Travel size: the perfect combination of care and relaxation
I have already told you about the benefits of aloe vera gel for skin (and more!) especially during summer. You can obviously make it the main element of your summer beauty routine, but there are other precautions that you should be aware of to take care of your skin and face during the hot season.
Let's take look at them together!
Travel size: the perfect combination of care and relaxation
No matter what type of products you choose for your beauty routine, I believe you should take into consideration their practicality. Summer often comes with holidays, whether you are leaving to discover other cultures or just for a few days on trip out of town, choose small travel formats that do not take up too much space in your suitcase and can all fit into your beauty case .
The travel format products will take care of your skin during your holidays, once finished, you won’t have to bring them back with you, making more room for travel souvenirs and other memories of your holidays!
Here are the 6 essential steps of your summer beauty routine to take care of your facial skin:
Face cleanser
Cleansing the face always comes first, as it is a fundamental step for good facial skin care. We normally need it to remove impurities gathered on the face in the evening, or to reinvigorate and get it ready for a busy day. In summer, the rules are the same! Choose products that do not feel heavy on the skin, that refresh it and let it breathe, and that are suitable with your skin type (the golden rule of skin care!). As always, formulations with aloe vera, thyme, cucumber are perfect, especially when in foaming formula instead of gel.
A small tip: summer heat is on our side as well during this ""moment of beauty"" but do not make the excessive freshness of water distract you: always try to use warm water to avoid harming your skin!
Face scrub
It is not one of those to do on a daily base, but you can (and should) treat yourself to it once or twice a week. Smoothing and exfoliating the skin is essential to allow it to regenerate and always have a wonderful ""new"" effect on it. You can choose scrubs with no deep exfoliation levels, but this also depends on your skin type.
Now, however, let's dispel a myth that is too often heard or read about exfoliation: the scrub does not negatively affect tan! The most common idea is indeed to believe that, by removing residuals of dead skin from our face, we will inevitably lose the much-desired tan, but the truth is that during summer season, with sun exposure our skin thickens and in some cases begins to create small cuticles, losing its velvety touch.
Removing this thicker and damaged outer layer through exfoliation will allow us to always have smooth and velvety skin, as long as all the other basic steps are carried out!
Face tonic
Unfortunately, many still underestimate the function of tonic within their beauty routine. This could be because its function is not clear to most people, but luckily skin care culture is expanding and managing to clarify some of these doubts.
One of the many benefits of tonics is their ability to shrink skin pores which tend to expand more with heat, and one of the most common and useful ingredients in this treatment is salicylic acid. So choose tonic that contains it, possibly alcohol-free with refreshing and dermo-stabilizing ingredients such as aloe.
If you sweat a lot and find that tonic makes you feel heavy, you can replace it with thermal spray water. In these years this product has seen wide appreciation for its qualities: it refreshes and decongests the face, can be applied several times during the day and helps to fix makeup.
Face serum
Here is the other prodigy-product of skin care! It has recently entered our beauty cases, conquering hearts and appreciation. Choose it according to the type of skin and needs (zinc for acne for example, hyaluronic acid for dry dry skin) but if possible in this period, look for soothing ingredients such as calendula or vitamin E.
Serum manages to go deeper than cream and the few drops necessary for a good routine are usually absorbed immediately, so it won’t leave your skin feeling heavy.
Eye contour
The eye area, like the area near the lips, is a very delicate part of our face and therefore the one that tends to be more stressed by heat and sun's rays. There are several types of eye contour, mostly designed to moisturize, illuminate and deflate this area. Depending on your needs, choose the one you prefer (if your eye area is dry, or bags appear), perhaps allowing for hydration of this area and to the freshness factor come first when buying the product.
A tip I always give is to keep your eye contour in the fridge for a more effective result.
Face lotion
We have reached the final step! Face lotions continue to be the most purchased and most sought after beauty products. Once they were the only product dedicated to skin care, but have now instead found formidable allies while remaining a must have.
The most important thing to clarify is the difference between day face lotion and night face cream. Our skin in fact has different needs during day and night, as it normally needs to be protected from the sun and regenerates at night.
In summer, many people find that face cream is too heavy, takes too long to absorb and creates a shiny layer on the face. If your skin cannot resist your usual cream, you can opt for the gel version, possibly refreshing and containing the usual friendly refreshment ingredients such as aloe vera, cucumber, rosemary or peppermint.
Whether you decide to spend your summer, or your holidays, in the city or in the mountains, on the beach or by the swimming pool, your skin will always be exposed to sun rays. Facial skin, particularly receives these rays directly in a constant manner and it is therefore necessary to protect it every day. To avoid the appearance of facial spots, irregular pigmentation and to counteract skin aging (which exposure to the sun inevitably leads to) you can choose a light moisturizer with a sun filter.
I recommend an SFP 30 filter and do not forget that sunscreen does not prevent or limit tan, but simply makes it less harmful and more uniform!
Now that you’ve learned how to transform your beauty routine from winter to summer you will always find time for it, even on vacation!
