The origin

The story of Patchouli

Patchouli is a plant that grows in Indonesia, China and India. During the Middle Ages, its leaves were used by precious cloth traders to protect them from insects during long ship voyages to the West. Its smell became famous among the Western bourgeoisie, and was immediately associated with the preciousness of the objects it was protecting.
