All Musk molecules used in perfumery today are considered "White Musk." The adjective was introduced in the late 18s to distinguish synthetic, laboratory-reproduced molecules from those that were still naturally extracted. It was intended precisely to indicate that such molecules had been stripped of the more pungent animal facets. While retaining the sensual character, they had a strong connotation of cleanliness. In white Musk, there is a combination of this molecule with white flowers of jasmin and ylang ylang. The result is a fragrance that brings out the natural and delicate charm of the fenmminile soul.
